Covid has had a huge impact on all our lives. With the dramtic loss of all our holidays due to isolation rules and a huge reduction in bookings I made the decision to concentrate on my IT skills and closed Chris Cowley as a booking agent. But as I am working full time in the A&B offices I am still here to help you, all my loyal customers who we have missed talking to. If you need help just drop me a line or call the office and they will be only too willing to help. Christine and I have taken up our passion with Wildlife and photography, one day we will retire and enjoy it even more.

Chris's Journey in the Taxi and Private Hire Business
For over 40 years, Chris has been a dedicated professional in the taxi and private hire industry, predominately operating in Basildon. Specializing in airport transfers, he began his journey as a part-time driver for Davita Radio Cars, known for its memorable number 555666. In those early days, before the advent of modern apps and sophisticated dispatch systems, Chris transitioned from a driver to a radio controller, fostering a lively community among drivers through constant banter over the radio—an element that many long for in today's tech-driven environment.
As an ex-school teacher, Chris utilized his communication skills to elevate Davita’s operations, ultimately becoming the firm's manager. His connections within local schools enabled him to secure significant transport contracts for Essex schools and social services, significantly expanding Davita’s fleet and profitability.
Davita was later acquired by Gary and Steve of A&B Taxis, its largest competitor, resulting in the formation of the area’s largest taxi fleet. With this merger, Chris embraced new technologies, taking on the role of IT manager and adapting to evolving telephony and dispatch systems.
When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, dramatically impacting the industry, Chris focused more on the IT aspect of the business. While he transitioned out of the operational side, he continued to enhance the A&B office's technology. Despite relinquishing the management of his own company, Chris maintained his reputation for exceptional customer service and a premium travel experience. His extensive knowledge of Basildon and its surroundings ensures that he remains a valuable asset for airport transfers.
Although the business mantle has shifted to A&B Taxis, Chris is still committed to providing personalized journeys that prioritize client comfort and convenience from start to finish. His legacy as a dedicated transportation professional lives on, contributing to the industry in new and meaningful ways.
