Rainham Marshes Saturday

Ok it was predicted rain so we decided to stay close, and Rainham is 25 mins away, when we got there it was really humid and a struggle to walk, so we only took our cameras and one tripod. We hadn’t walk to the Ken Barret hide for a while and being saturday there are normalllyquite a lot wishing to see the Kingfishers at the DMC hide. So we went to ken barrett, it started dquite quiet and we saw very little on the walk round, the normal sedge warblers singing, but well down in the greenery so very difficult to see.

We sat at the Ken Barrett for about 10 mins and suddenly a kingfisher landed on the wooden rail, and we got a few shots, but it was pretty busy in the hide. Shortly though most left and there were only 3 of us, and the female kingfisher returned. Got some really nice shots and Christine got an excellent video. Started to walk to Butts hide but the rain returned , really quite heavy, so we went back to Ken Barrets until it stopped and after we decided to go back to the reception for a cup of coffee. We stopped at the bottom of the ramp over looking the whole reserve, some nice videos, spoonbills in the background were great all be it a long way off. As always plenty of reaaly nice people to talk

Topped of with coffee and lemon drizzle cake…mmmmmm.
