Abberton and Copt Hall Marsh on 3rd and 4th January, welcome to 2025

Ok so when its sunny wee have to take every oppurtunity so went off to Abberton and stood on the Layer De Haye causeway trying to spot the “Smew” which we missed the whole of 2024 , but alas no not this day, but still lots of bird watchers and nice to speak with everyone, the sunny day certainly brought everyone out, then on Saturday we went to a new location Copt Hall Marsh , not far from Abberton at Little Wigborough , it was a little cloudy , sun tried to break through but luckily no wind so had a really lovely walk round . Saw some Muntjack running acroos the fields, and lovely reed buntings showing well from the embankment. We hoped to spot the hen harrier, spoke to some nice people in the car park who said it was out earlier and we were shown a short-eaerd owl through a scope that was a long way off, bit far for our lenses but lovely to see. Definitley a place to go back to and we passed Abbotts Hall Farm on the same road which is added to our list,.
